Die Evangelische Kantorei Iserlohn wurde 1954 von Kantor Gerhard Emde gegründet. Unter seiner Leitung und unter den Nachfolgern Hans Krampen (1959-1971) und KMD Gotthard Gerber (1971-2001) wurde sie rasch über Iserlohns Grenzen hinaus bekannt, zum Inbegriff des guten Chorklangs und unverzichtbar für das geistliche und kulturelle Leben Iserlohns. Seit November 2001 sind Ute & Hanns-Peter Springer in Stellenteilung künstlerische Leiter der EKI.
Kantorei (lat: cantare=singen) steht dabei für ein vielfältiges kirchenmusikalisches Betätigungsfeld. Die Kantorei setzt sich derzeit aus 8 Einzelchören zusammen, der Großen Kantorei (48 Mitglieder), der Seniorenkantorei, dem Pop-Chor RISE UP! und den fünf Gruppen der Kinder- und Jugendkantorei (100 Mitglieder). Darüber hinaus ist sie Veranstalter und Initiator von Chor-, Orgel- und Kammermusikkonzerten, Exkursionen, interaktiven Angeboten, weltlichen Konzerten, Ausstellungen, Kindermusicals, Fortbildungen, Gastgeber des Internationalen Gitarrensymposions und Anbieter von Plattformen für künstlerische Nachwuchskräfte.
Unsere Kantorei im engeren Sinne, die Große Kantorei, widmet sich der Pflege des reichen kirchenmusikalischen Erbes in Liturgie und Konzert. Sie hat alle großen Standardwerke der geistlichen Chorliteratur aufgeführt, aber gerade auch mit zeitgenössischer Musik, sogar Uraufführungen und Wiederentdeckungen herausragende Arbeit geleistet. Primäre Wirkungsstätte ist die Oberste Stadtkirche, die Kantorei trägt ihre Musik jedoch auch in die anderen Gemeinden der Region, veranstaltet Konzerte, a cappella und mit Orchester. Rundfunkaufnahmen, Plattenproduktionen und Tourneen ins europäische Ausland belegen das hohe künstlerische Niveau des Chores. In den vergangenen 10 Jahren bemühte sich der Chor insbesondere um einen kulturellen Ost-West-Dialog und besuchte Gemeinden in den neuen Bundesländern.
Die „Große“ Kantorei probt dienstags von 19.45-22.00 Uhr im Lutherhaus an der Obersten Stadtkirche. Bei Interesse an der Mitwirkung nehmen Sie bitte Kontakt mit Hanns-Peter Springer außerhalb der Chorprobe auf. Ein 15-minütiges Kennenlernen mit Vorsingen ist üblich.
The “Evangelische Kantorei Iserlohn” was founded in 1954 by choirmaster Gerhard Emde. Under his musical direction and during the leadership of his successors Hans Krampen (1959-1971) and Gotthard Gerber (1971-2001) the choir quickly became known beyond the borders of Iserlohn, soon acknowledged as choir with an exceptionally good sound, essential for the spiritual and cultural life in Iserlohn. Since 2001 Ute and Hanns-Peter Springer share the musical leadership of the EKI.
The term “Kantorei” (lat: cantare=to sing) represents a wide and manifold field of activities. At present the Kantorei has eight choirs, the Kantorei for the grown-ups having 48 members, the Seniorenkantorei, the Pop-Choir RISE UP! and the five groups for children and teenagers (Kinder- und Jugendkantorei) with round about 100 members. Furthermore the Kantorei initiates and organises choral concerts, organ recitals and concerts with chamber music, also excursions, interactive processes, concerts with secular music, exhibitions, children’s musicals and opportunities for education and advanced training. In addition it acts as host for the “International Guitar Symposium” and provides a platform for young artists.
The Kantorei in the narrow sense, the choir for the grown-ups, is devoted to the cultivation of the rich inheritance of church-music both in liturgy and concert. It has not only performed all the great standard works of sacred chorally music, but has also achieved exceptional successes with contemporary music and even with world premieres and rediscoveries. Main site of activity is the “Oberste Stadtkirche” in Iserlohn, but the choir also transports it’s music to the parishes in the closer region. It organises concerts singing a capella as well as being accompanied by an orchestra. Recording for the radio, CD-productions and tours to various European countries give evidence of the high artistic standard of the choir.
A great concern of the Kantorei is the cultural east-west-dialog, therefore it has travelled to parishes in the eastern part of Germany ten times in succession.

La Kantorei protestante di Iserlohn è stato fondato in 1954 da maestro Gerhard Emde. Sotto la sua amministrazione e fra i successori Hans Krampen (1959-1971) e Gotthard Gerber (1971-2001) il coro è stato rapidamente conosciuto dopo i bordi di Iserlohn, all’esempio perfetto di buon suono choral ed importante per la vita ecclesiasticale e culturale di Iserlohn. Da novembre, del 2001 Ute e Hanns-Peter Springer sono in divisione sul posto artistico del EKI.
Il Kantorei è costituito al giorno d’oggi da 8 singoli choirs, il Kantorei grande (48 membri), il Seniorenkantorei, il Pop-Chor RISE UP!, a quinto gruppi dei bambini e del Jugendkantorei (100 membri). In più, è un organizzatore e un iniziatore dei concerti choral, dei concerti dell’organo e dei concerti di musica di alloggiamento, le escursioni, le offerte interattive, le esposizioni, i musicals del bambino, gli addestramenti avanzati, ospite del simposio internazionale della chitarra.
La Kantorei nel senso più stretto, il Kantorei grande, si dedica alla cura dell’eredità chiesa-musicale ricca in liturgia e concerto. Ha realizzato tutti gli impianti standard grandi delle opere choral ecclesiasticale, degli oratorii, ma ha realizzato anche delle opere ricoperte e contemporanee. Il luogo primario di effetto è la chiesa della città più elevata, il Kantorei trasporta la sua musica, tuttavia, anche negli altri comuni della regione, organizza i concerti. Le ammissioni dell’azienda di broadcasting, le produzioni record e viaggii nel paese straniero europeo prenotano il livello elevato artistico del coro. Durante i 10 anni scorsi il coro prende la cura in particolare di un dialogo ad est/ovest culturale ed i comuni visitati nel nuovo federale dichiara.
